Sienna Baskin

Sienna's work with SWP combines organizing, legal services and impact litigation for and by victims of trafficking into prostitution. Her work will include family law and criminal law remedies for women trafficked by their boyfriends and husbands, as well as immigration representation through the T and U visas. Sienna will also work with former victims to develop a collective voice to contribute to policy efforts around trafficking. Finally, by litigating for victims of trafficking who remain excluded from the U.S. for their acts of prostitution, Sienna will ask the courts to question the hard line between "bad" sex workers and "good" trafficking victims. Prior to law school, Sienna advocated for poor people's rights in various settings. She worked against the expansion of prisons in rural Massachusetts, volunteered for needle exchange programs in Philadelphia, coordinated volunteers to shield patients outside abortion clinics, and led many writing workshops for kids in housing projects and women in prison. At CUNY School of Law, Sienna provided legal services through the Economic Justice Project and the Immigrant and Refugee Rights Clinic, and organized for a transgender-friendly campus.
Sienna is an Equal Justice Works fellow.
